Special Collections and Archives Presents Preservation Week!

It is easy to forgot how quickly things can get lost to time. One bad storm, a fire, a corrupted drive, or just an abandoned box in the attic, and suddenly all your memories and important documents have vanished. Preservation week is a time when we can help answer questions you have about personal items you want to last for a long while, or even for generations to come. Preservation week was started in 2005 by a division of the American Library Association, Core, and serves to encourage a hard look at your collections and how to preserve them. This year it is April 24th through 30th, 2022.

University students, staff and faculty are invited to attend this year’s preservation week in the Special Collections and Archives Division of the Eugene McDermott Library. Come by to ask the Curators how to preserve your most beloved items, family documents, and online files. We will have some acid free materials for demonstration, as well as a small packet and guide to take home so you can get started right away.

We will have a few other items to giveaway and plenty of information for how to best preserve what is dear to you. The event will take place on April 28th from 1:00pm-3:00pm in the Special Collections and Archives Division, located on the 3rd floor of the McDermott Library in room 3.504.
