McDermott Library Brings WoW to the Library to Welcome Students This Fall
The Eugene McDermott Library will welcome new and returning students next week by hosting Board in the Library: Late Night Gaming – a night of fun, food and games as part of UT Dallas’ Weeks of Welcome (WoW).
Board in the Library will be held from 10 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, Aug. 29 in the Richardson Room, (3.544) located on the third floor of the library. Students may also pick up Weeks of Welcome T-shirts and enjoy light snacks while supplies last. Librarians and staff will be on hand to provide information about the library’s resources and services.
Convocation officially kicked off Weeks of Welcome, as well as the University’s 50th anniversary celebration, on Aug. 18. The anniversary theme has been incorporated throughout this year’s WoW events.
Organized by various campus departments, Weeks of Welcome includes more than 45 exciting events over two full weeks and continues through Aug. 30. The annual event includes water rides, a carnival, poetry jam, comedy show, a retro cardio dance party, movie night featuring Avengers: Endgame and plenty of free food.
Rec N’ Wild featured water rides, games and treats on Thursday, Aug. 22, at the intramural softball field. Students were able to participate that evening in a silent disco, a dance-club experience while wearing wireless headphones, in Recreation Center West.
Jaboukie Young-White from “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah” will headline a comedy show in the Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building Lecture Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
During Weeks of Welcome, campus departments and offices will provide free food including ice cream, breakfast goodies and cookies.
